Objects first, then the table

Much of what was lifted out of Ephesus is not at the site at all: it is in the Ephesus Archaeological Museum in Selcuk, a few minutes away. Seeing the sculpture, household objects, medical instruments and cult statuary in one set of rooms changes how the ruins read, and it is a comfortable, largely indoor experience.

The second half of the day moves out to a vineyard estate for a cellar visit and a seated tasting menu. It is the least physically demanding of our shared shore days and the one guests most often choose for a second call at the same port.

Inside the museum

The collection is organised so that objects sit near the context they came from — the terrace house rooms, the fountains, the tombs — rather than by material alone. The Artemis statuary is the single most photographed group, and your guide will explain what is documented about the cult and where interpretation begins.

Gallery arrangement, loans and temporary closures are decided by the museum. We do not promise that any particular object will be on display on your date.

The vineyard and the cellar

The estate visit covers how the fruit is grown in this climate, what happens between harvest and barrel, and how the cellar is kept. It ends at the table with a tasting menu rather than a counter pour.

Alcohol is never obligatory. Non-alcoholic pairings can be arranged for anyone in the party who prefers them; tell us when you enquire.

A short transfer through the agricultural country outside Selcuk.

  4. Cellar visit

How the wine is made and stored, explained on site.

  5. Seated tasting menu

A seated tasting menu at the estate. Included only if you add it to your booking; non-alcoholic alternatives can be arranged on request.

Museum opening hours and estate availability are set by the venues. We confirm both for your date before you book.

Pacing, walking and comfort

This day is mostly indoors and mostly on level surfaces, with seating available at both stops. It involves far less walking than any of the archaeological-site tours.

It is the day we most often recommend for guests who want the Ephesus material without a long outdoor circuit.

Cruise timing and the Back-to-Ship Guarantee

Both stops are close to the ports, which makes this day comparatively forgiving when a schedule shifts. The tasting is the element we shorten first if time tightens.

The plan is built around your confirmed docking and all-aboard times with a return buffer, and re-planned if the ship's schedule changes.

What we confirm in writing before you decide

  • Museum opening hours on your date
  • Whether the tasting menu is included in your quote
  • Any dietary requirements or non-alcoholic preferences
  • The total price for your group and the payment terms

Anything not listed above as verified is shown as “Confirmed in writing before you decide.” on this page rather than guessed at.

No. Tell us when you enquire and the estate will arrange non-alcoholic pairings instead. Nobody in your party has to taste anything.
